Certainly, it would be great if Yueyin could introduce more about all the famous bakeries he knows about in Beijing and anywhere else in the world.

I believe his Cantonese pronunciation is flawless. Thus, I strongly agree with him, i.e. "b" is the correct answer to the question below

(Yes, Betty needs to think more often in Cantonese and eat more walnuts or hickory nuts;))

本來,在哥倫布日的長週末,要到多倫多參加婚禮,因為不想開車,又不想飛,工作又忙,結果派了兩兒子飛去代表,回來時,帶來加拿大美心月餅一盒,放在餐桌上,未有動過,還有『東東蛋卷皇』,在MARKHAM那一家,www.tungtungdanquenking.com/product/ROLL/BOTTOM.HTM 已壓成碎片,年青人就是這樣。準備暑假會去,多倫多是我第三故鄉。

照你这么一说,人家还以为我是美食鉴定专家似的。不过wherestip说得不错,稻香春和桂香村是北京两家最著名的老字号糕饼店。可是现在北京的许多商场、大型超市都在卖稻香春和桂香村的点心,但品质差异却很大。据说,北京某些糕饼厂把制作糕饼的任务承包给郊区的个体户,然后挂上著名招牌在各商场出售。这种做法很危险。老字号之所以经久不衰,就是因为他们注重信誉,精工细作。可现在有的老字号为了追求最大利润,滥用他们长期树立起来的信誉,偷工减料。前几年南京冠生园用陈馅制作月饼就是一例,现在已经破产。详见“南京冠生园:信誉的破产”,

去年回北京时,经别人介绍到北京师范大学马路对面一家超市的稻香春专柜买点心,品质果然不错。到那里买点心总是要排长队。以前购物讨厌排长队,可现在却甘愿走远点去排长队。酒好不怕巷子深,大概就是这个道理。

联想我们搞翻译这一行,若是我们注重信誉、精工细作,那么客户也会在后面排起长队。

补充一点,wherestip提供的link里提到的稻香春(和平里店),现在仍在那里。我以前曾在和平里一带上学、工作多年,出于怀旧心理,去年回京时特地去那儿看了看。结果发现,稻香春因门口地铁车站施工影响营业,店里甚是萧条。但我相信,一旦地铁车站完工,交通将更加便利,将十分有利于该店的生意。护国寺的桂香村也还在,它是前店后厂,到那儿应能买到正宗的桂香村食品。不过桂香村的门面数十年没什么变化,不怎么起眼。
