This is definitely a scam. The same message is apparently being sent to a large number of people on the assumption that one of them (only one is needed) will be ingenuous enough to accept the invitation. Fortunately the English in the original message is so poor that suspicion should immediately be aroused. So he knows English? And lives in Spain? This is not the first time someone wants to stole my money... So I've learn that before start working, is necessary to make some research of the text on the web! And look at this... http://www.go4funding.com/Articles/Essential-Components-Of-Business-Plans.aspx All text that he send me as a sample text to translate was just copied and pasted from a web site... So I send him and email asking 900 euro to start working and the rest when translation is ultimates.... Guess what? He didn't email me any more. Just to have fun, I call him, the cell phone is fake! Where's the trick? They pay you with a chech... They make a mistake, and they send you more money than you shoul get. They pray you to change the check and send them back the rest of money. People think: I have the money... It's not exactly like that... Infact, you get the check on your bank, but the money is not really available, because you have to wait 60 days (it depends of the country) to be really yours... That's because the bank clearing on international transactions.... So, you send them the difference, and after 60 days your bank calls you telling that the check was empty, so they block your account until you don't give back the money to the banck... And you sould pay all the money that you send them before! ATTENTION! MAKE SOME RESEARCH FIRST. DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS. ALWAYS ASK A PERCENT OF MONEY BEFORE START WORKING...! Good luck! Marianela

Almost fell for the Morgan Cole scam, too. I had tried to google his name/email and was curious about the IP address but I'm not super tech savvy so couldn't find it anywhere. I do wonder where this would have led to if I'd kept going? Also, can they do anything with bank information such as account number and routing number for international bank transfers? Thanks, Signe ▲ Collapse | |

I received pretty much the same e-mail, with some very small differences, from someone claiming to call him/herself 'Steve Cole', asking for a FR>ENG translation. I should have checked more thoroughly at the time, but thankfully, the combination of (a) a 'Steve Cole' with a very poor grasp of basic English grammar and spelling, (b) payment by cheque, which I never accept, and (c) the easiest deadline I have ever been offered for such a small text (2500 words or so) meant that I just sent back a fairly non-committal response, asking for further information, which never elicited any reply. I therefore assumed it was some sort of scam, and that the scammer was now devoting his/her energy to finding other, more trusting targets. I hope s/he didn't succeed...
