TagEditor - Jibberish in commented tag (Eng+Jap text)

Hi,

I am using Trados to translate English text in html file in which Japanese texts are embedded as commented tag. Task holder who prepared this localization kit wanted to save cost for translating texts which have been translated in the past, they put "comment tag" on all the Japanese texts, and inserted new text, which is English.

When I open this html file in TagEditor, I can see Japanese commented texts are already Jibberish or garbled, and of course after I finish... See more

When I open this html file in TagEditor, I can see Japanese commented texts are already Jibberish or garbled, and of course after I finish translating new English text and clean the file, commented Japanese texts are Jibberish.

Does anyone know why it happens and what is the best way to avoid Jibberish problem?
