Just to hit the 'disagree' button

The Guardian newspaper site has agree buttons for comments left by readers below at article and even so the comments can run into hundreds. I personally would like to have that button and I think it would be very useful on occasions. For example, if someone were to ask for advice about Mexico and another commentator said everything I would have said, I think it could be helpful to show my agreement instantly. I think an I agree/disagree button would be a good idea too. We've all got too much sense to allow it to restrict us if we have got something else to add, but there are times when you do just agree or disagree wholeheartedly.
And, for what it's worth, like Nesrin, I think we ignore the Facebook phenomenon at our peril. And, for what it's worth, like Nesrin, I think we ignore the Facebook phenomenon at our peril. As an initially reluctant and only occasional Facebook user, I only joined after considerable pressure from my sons and to see the pictures from last year's ProZ conference in Vienna, which were only posted on Facebook at the outset. Having joined, I do find it useful as a social networking tool and for sharing photos and news with people I wouldn't otherwise have time to catch up with. It certainly hasn't taken over my life, but it's nice to know it's there if we need it. I don't use it for work as such but I suppose it's another networking tool in its own right and it seems a shame to ignore its possibilities. ▲ Collapse | | | Gina W United States Local time: 14:53 Member (2003) Prancis menyang Inggris
I also think that it's a good idea. Thank you, Lesley, for your post to illustrate how this can be a good thing. | |

Hello fellow ProZians,
To my mind, Shelia has, once again, grasped the essential point.
There are others, of course but it does seem important to me to actually know why someone either agrees or disagrees.
Otherwise there is a little bit of blind faith in the configuration, right?
