I only noticed this recently. It used to be that when jobs were closed, they disappeared from the Board (which is how it should be). Did I inadvertantly change my preference to see closed jobs? I certainly did not intend to, and I can't imagine why anyone would want to.

The main reason I like to see them is that if I have put in a bid, once I see that the job is officially closed, I know that my bid wasn't accepted, and that I don't need to stick around waiting for a reply. Of course, if the job disappeared, I could also tell, I guess.
The other reason is that I like to stay informed on what's going on in my language pairs. I can see what kind of projects are out there, who is offering them, and just get an idea of the realities of this slice of t... I guess that there is a rationale behind wanting to see jobs that have been closed.
But personally, I find it rather irritating. To me, it seems like leaving cartons of milk with passed expiration dates in the refrigerator case of a supermarket.

I don't care whether they show expired / closed jobs or not, but there are forums where they allows sorting ("show all" or "do npt show closed jobs", etc.), and some people find it useful, especially when away from home (laptops, small screens, extra bites of traffic, etc.).
Also, a notification to the applicants who submitted their offers to recently expired jobs would be useful (with an option for notifications to be sent or not).

I checked your job search preferences, Robert, and I see that, in "Advanced search mode", you chose All as job status preference. If you do not want jobs that have been closed to be listed when you browse classic jobs, then select Open in the 'Status' field and then click on "Search jobs (and save settings)".
