Off topic: Translators/interpreters need a greater outlet for their Libido, because we are sexier

Translators and interpreters are (we suspect) sexier, and we need a world that will not only pay us more, but will not repress our (widely) suspected innate sex-based joyousness with words of policy and priesthood and triumph. We have translated/interpreted these words and can see behind them. The world needs more in the world of what we have (we suspect) in greater plenty -- great suspected Libido!

You may have a point Nov 9, 2004

Or you may not have a point. Who can say, really?

I propose a new ProZ.com feature: LibidoZ. I'd be willing to shell out some extra bucks for that.

Where do I sign? Nov 9, 2004

Wouldn't you know, a trio of Midwesterners preoccupied with a hot topic...you can tell it is getting chilly around these parts

LibidoZ sounds super, by the way!

Now we just need to find a way of testing the theory... Nov 9, 2004

Maybe a LibidoZ conference? The midwest might be a good place to hold the event (in the middle of January)...

I'm game, so be sure to keep me posted on any new developments!

Cheers!

Sara

Libidoz, mate! Nov 10, 2004

The Mid-West seems a bit far. How 'bout getting together on a tropical island in SE Asia?

If you needed proof - linguists are sexier!! Nov 11, 2004

This news article seems to prove your suspicions:

Well, isn't wonderfull to learn a new language just to flirt with someone? They should give foreign language courtship courses...

One thing though, although I totally agree with the statement that linguists are sexier (there is really no denying that, I would just like to point out that polyglots (people who speak many languages) and linguists (people who study language) are not the same thing (although many linguists are polyglots).

Translators SOUND sexier Dec 1, 2004

I met a very nice young lady who said that she adored hearing men speak French. I started (although I must admit I was talking total gibberish about balance sheets but she didn't know!) and she told me I sounded sexy. I then used a very well known phrase in French (it was suggestive but tasteful) which she understood. She then reiterated 'I said you SOUND sexy'.

Best put down line I've ever had!
