I'm sure there are plenty more just waiting to be invented !

How about one to specify that "I was just kidding there"? Would save a lot of arguments on the Net for a start.
Of course we'd then need a "Actually I'm being totally serious" too.

And another one for people who like to use an interrogative tone when it's not a question (which I take to be sort of short for "you know what I mean"?)

And how about a special sign for brackets within brackets?

And how about a special sign for brackets within brackets? We have single and double quotation marks so we can use one then the other for speech within speech, but brackets within brackets are absolutely vital for people like me who love digressions!

And a punctuation equivalent for a smiley banging his head against the wall...
