I wouldn't mind having session time till about 19:00.

Thank you to the organisers for putting together the schedule. I imagine it can't have been an easy task, and that clashes were unavoidable (after all there are close to 140 participants).

My question is, if we've signed up for 2 sessions that are scheduled at the same time - do we now select one, or will this be done at registration on the morning of the 25th?

Hello all,
To reply to some of your questions regarding the conference program:

The program is already pretty packed and there is not much room anymore for adding new sessions. It should be considered as final, however last minute changes may still occur.

It is extremely difficult to arrange sessions in such a way that there is no conflicts. I try my best to avoid it, but it is rather impossible task to agree preferences of all participants. I would definitely move sessions if majority of people who signed up request the timing change.

Good to hear it! I was a bit concerned about making those two days too long so closing is scheduled at about 6pm both days. However, if there is sufficient interest and energy left, there is no reason not to have, say, additional focus groups organized between 6 and 7 pm. I'd suggest to use "Propose a session" button on the main conference page to suggest such additional sessions. If only there is enough interested participants, we will do it.

I'd suggest to select sessions right now. The reason is that the three rooms can accommodate different number of participants and the allocation is based on number of interested participants. I would like to avoid the situation that we have too small room allocated to a popular session. If the number of signed up participants exceeds the room capacity, I'd rather allocate it to a bigger room in advance.

Thank you all for understanding and comments!

Best,
Magda

space for another session? Nov 2, 2005

Hello Magda

I've noted your comments above about the program being full. If you can squeeze one more in I would like to propose one which I offer to host. I see there is a gap in the 15-16h slot on Saturday, which I thought might be a possibility.

My suggestion is for a session for historical translators. Because it wouldn't be very formal I would suggest a title of "historical translators' networking group" or the like.

I offer to host this and if you go ahead with it I will provide you with a write-up for the program. Basically it would be about swapping information about this field, with an introduction by me about my experiences.

look forward to hearing from you

Orthodox Jews are prohibited from attending the Conference which is on the Sabbath Nov 8, 2005

Hi, I just thought I would add that Orthodox Jews, such as myself, are prohibited from participating on these activities on the Sabbath. Perhaps the PROZ people should plan events to be held in the middle of the week so people like me can attend.

late sessions Nov 8, 2005

I would really agree to "working late", if it meant that I could attend as many sessions of interest to me as possible. There are cases when it was easy for me to choose, which one I attend if both are scheduled at the same time, but there is a case where I'm actually torn three ways and unable to choose, namely Wordfast Training II, Word as a Tool..., and Earning High Rates.

I wanted to attend all 3 of these sessions as well. It will be a tough choice if they cannot be changed, but I understand that it must be very difficult to arrange a schedule that doesn't clash with someone's interests.

Sure, here it is:

There will be a dinner for all conference participants on Friday, at 8pm at the hotel. It will be a buffet style dinner, so we will all be able to mingle and talk to as much people as we like. The menu is already chosen - among hot dishes there will be a selection from fish, turkey and vegetarian casserole, plus a soup, vegetable salads, sweets, etc. A glass of wine as well.

IMPORTANT:
The dinner is included in the conference fee.
Those of you who arrive together with accompanying persons and would like to invite them to the dinner, will be requested to pay PLN60 (~€15) per each additional person at the registration.

I hope the dinner will be a great networking opportunity as well as a bit of much needed entertainment after a long conference day.

Magda

All other arrangements - hotel stays, meals on days before and after the conference, tours, etc. shall be arranged and covered individually.

Thanks for your nice words, Pamela, and all!
