I have been specializing in medical text translation for nearly 25 years. At first, it was not my choice - I had to do it being a teacher of English at a medical school (institute). Later on, I found out that health providers love to use the "good literture" language that makes translation interesting. My teachers of English and the long practice of written transaltion have taught me to be modest, I mean that I never forget that I am not a medical professional, and my knowlwdge of medicine is wide (from Psychiatry to Obstetrics) but rather superficial. Fortunately, I have physicians at hand, actually, in the family and always can ask them. It is fun to hear sometimes how they are argueing whether the word is a term or just a professional slang.

Now I am translating mainly for the UNICEF, Uzbekistan, as it has several health care projects in the country. I am transalting the scientific reports on the two STCU's projects: one on diarrhea diseases and another one on water-associated health disorders.
