Lady Lazarus (asker) Oct 17, 2015:
Thank you gentlemen. I've decided not to go descriptive in this case. The term is too new to ring any bells in the general public but my text is going to be read by professionals. I presume they've heard the expression. I would have added an explanation though if the receipient of the target text was a "general public" :) thanks ever so much ;)

Można dodać "poor posture and physical tone caused by excessive television viewing".

inne artykuły wpominają o "slumped chest" Some' defects to be on the alert for are: forward head, slumped chest, kyphosis (round back), lordosis, protuberant abdomen, scoliosis, high shoulders, bow legs, knock knees, pronated end flat feet. - page 33

The D, bad, was characterized by a marked forward head, depressed and sunken chest, protuberant and completely relaxed abdomen, with very extreme back curves. - page 43

Precisely, geopiet. The question is whether to describe it medically or colloquially.

Frank Szmulowicz, Ph. D. Oct 10, 2015:
@All: I was more interested in the French article, which I cannot download. I wonder if this is a true illness or just a collection of symptoms that accompany inactivity? Clearly, it is not communicable. I have never heard of it being described in the USA. If this is an advertising text, then a colorful description (as a syndrome) might be good.
Otherwise, "poor posture" describes it to a tee:
Forward head
Rounded back (kyphosis)
Sunken chest
Excessive back arch (lordosis)
Protruding abdomen (ptosis)
Hyperextended knees
Lady Lazarus (asker) Oct 10, 2015:
MacroJanus, no symptoms described in the text, just the name of the condition in Polish. I presume the sunken chest and rounded back part is the subject of interest here as the document describes the curriculum of the Academy of Physical Education, Faculty Rehabilitation and Physiotherapy. Thank you
Frank Szmulowicz, Ph. D. Oct 10, 2015:
Are the symptoms described? Are they sunken chest, rounded back, flaccid muscles, lowered physical ability, scoliosis, reduction in muscle mass, obesity?
Erzsébet Czopyk Oct 10, 2015:
it was published in Acta Paedopsychiatrica: International Journal of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Frank Szmulowicz, Ph. D. Oct 10, 2015:
@Erzebet: I am not sure this is a full-blown medical term, but it does describe the phenomenon.

motivational deficiency disorder (MoDeD)
Australian researchers have identified a new condition characterized by extreme laziness: motivational deficiency disorder (MoDeD). MoDeD is far different from being a couch potato when you get home from work or sleeping in late on a Sunday morning. Instead, motivational deficiency disorder is described as overwhelming and debilitating apathy.

People with motivational deficiency disorder are more than just couch potatoes; they lack a desire to feel or do just about anything.

In cases when a person loses even the motivation to breathe, the condition can be fatal, researchers said.

You¹re deep in the clutches of the evil couch potato syndrome. Physical inactivity (often referred to as "sedentarism") is a major contributor to heart disease, osteoporosis, adult-onset diabetes and cancer.

Some people call it couch potato syndrome: hours spent in front of the TV or computer with little or no activity. Now there's new evidence of just how a sedentary lifestyle can be hazardous to your health.

Americans have developed some bad habits in the last few decades. Many of us spend our workdays

- http://www.edukacja.edux.pl/p-26181-telewizja-szansa-czy-zag...
