Workers injured or suffering work-related illnesses have the right to file a claim for, and receive, benefits for their expenses and/or disabilities. However, if they do receive benefits from the Office of Workers Compensation, they are then generally not entitled to receive their retirement annuity benefits at the same time. In some cases, their retirement and annuity benefits will be suspended until the workers compensation benefits are exhausted or completed.
