Polska nie ma granicy morskiej ze Szwecją w ścisłym tego słowa znaczeniu - graniczy przez morze ze Szwecją tak samo, jak z Finlandią, Estonią, czy Łotwą. Nie można więc w tym przypadku użyć terminu oznaczającego granicę morską (gdyż teren po jednej stronie granicy morskiej należy do jednego państwa, a po drugiej stronie granicy do drugiego).
