The Heads of Agreement is basically a mini-contract which lists the main points of the recording contract - such as parties involved, advances and royalties. Once agreed, this contract will be signed by both parties. At this point the final Long Form Agreement is issued which contains all the finer points of the deal. The Long Form Agreement usually runs into pages and pages of clauses, and it is at this stage that negotiations can become long and drawn out.
