Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Apr 10, 2002:
Same thing in English I wonder if there is any standard Russian equivalent to American corporate positions.
A related question is how to decide the order(which one is smaller, which one is bigger?) between:
cell
part
team
section
department
If I can figure out this order, then the hierarchy becomes obvious...

Thank you in advance.

I believe there is no single "standard" translation you are looking for.

I won't suggest my translation, as you can pick whatever you like from the above. I'll try to answer the second question about the ranking.
In my opinion:
'cell' is definitely the lowest, grassroot level;
'team' comes next;
then 'section', and 'department'.
I am pretty sure aboyt these four. As for 'part' I would probably place it between 'section' and 'department'.
This is only my suggestion, and it mell may turn out that some of these terms are fairly egual but used in different corporations.
Hope that helped you somehow. ,-)

agree xeni (X) : Yes, it all depends on what is meant in this particular corporation. It other corporation it could be different.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks a lot to everyone. All 4 answers were very helpful. The last one, though, made things clearer about the hierarchy. It's good to hear there is "no standard" even though I was looking for it. You know what I mean... we can be creative:)"

Peer comment(s):

agree Oleg Prots : I think this is the best of the variants proposed, but the question of hierarchy still remains.

neutral Oleg Prots : По-моему, все-таки скорее сотрудник, нежели сослуживец, ведь сослуживец - это тот, кто служит вместе с конкретным рассказчиком.
