Somente após o processo de ativação, o linfócito chega ao local da infecção (em torno de no mín. uma semana). Assim, haverá uma resposta imune inata e adaptativa. Resposta adaptativa consiste na necessidade de que o organismo se adapte àquela situação, ativando o braço linfóide do sistema imunológico para que de fato haja uma resposta de mais alta eficiência e potência.
