Presumably in cases of depreciation/amortisation where the rates used for financial accounting purposes are different to those which legislation allows for tax purposes.

I would say No to "tax permissible". I have never heard the expression and I worked as an accountant for 12 years. "Tax deductible" is definitely the correct expression. Check Google: "tax permissible" 65 hits, "tax deductible" over 27 million hits.
