US English. We also say "old peoples/folks home", but that's colloquial and not so politically correct. A nursing home is where you go when you can no longer take care of yourself. You'll probably have a private room in a dormitory-like setting, with lots of nurses and other staff. An assisted-living center is where you go when you are still pretty independent but need a little help. You'll probably have your own apartment in an apartment building or campus, a private kitchen, etc. A staff will provide some services, e.g. you might have an emergency button to summon help in case of a health emergency.

P.S. Assisted-living centers are not only for the elderly; people with physical or mental disabilities also live in them.

Homes for the disabled

Looking at the context, the list of institutions do not deal with old people specifically. It deals with people who have some kind of restriction on their freedom of movement. I beleave the question is about people with disability. Moreover, I believe in most of the Arab countries, the elderly are not normally sent to "elderly homes" but are often kept with their families to live in dignity.

an illness, injury or condition that makes it difficult for someone to do the things that other people do.

It seems my remark about \"Homes for the Elderly\" is taken out of context. I did not say \"Homes for the elderly\" do not exist in the Arab countries. My answer implies there are such homes but they are not widely used as Nesrin so wisely remarked.
I am not sure about your view that 3ajazah could also be plural for 3ajooz. I would appreciate if you could give me a reference.
