Ok, I can't get it here. Is it EEG we're talking about ??

The text is translated from French to Arabic, and I'm working on it from Arabic to English.

Thanks a lot neuneutek :) The problem is that I'm working on an Arabic text translated from French text, and it's a terrible translation! So it's taking me real hard time to understand the Arabic source itself. I think I'll also consider your fourth suggestion :) Thanks a lot :)
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
The fourth term that I personally start to think is what you may need is cerebral angiography: This iplies dye injection and imaging and is very useful to assess brain blood vessels and tissue viability. I am still not sure which term is rt
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
3rd Encephalography and this is very similar to X-ray on other organs. This may be very diagnostic in relation to meninges and CSF problems. I am not sure this should be the term you need however. But this ENCEPHALOGRAPHY is not CT scan or EEG!!
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
2nd: Brain CT scan and this is YES like you and Mr. Sayyed kindly mentioned a CT or computerized tomography of the brain tissue just like any other CT scans else where. This takes serial Axial, transverse etc.. sections and is most useful in tumour diagno
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
:) I am so sorry that I couldn't make my point as clear as possible. There are FOUR different scans or grams to talk about.

1st: EEG >> electro-encephalogram and that's what you kindly mentioned and it is not an imagung technic at all!
Non-ProZ.com Jul 26, 2005:
Electroencephalography is the neurophysiologic measurement of the electrical activity of the brain by recording from electrodes placed on the scalp, or in the special cases on the cortex. The resulting traces are known as an electroencephalogram (EEG) and represent so-called brainwaves. This device is used to assess brain damage, epilepsy and other problems. In some jurisdictions it is used to assess brain death. EEG can also be used in conjunction with other types of brain imaging.

Neuroscientists and biological psychiatrists use EEGs to study the function of the brain by recording brainwaves during controlled behavior of human volunteers and animals in lab experiments. Theories to explain sleep often rely on EEG patterns recorded during sleep sessions. In addition, the procedure is used clinically to assist in the diagnosis of epilepsy.
Historically four major types of continuous rhythmic sinusoidal EEG waves are recognized (alpha, beta, delta and theta). There is no precise agreement on the frequency ranges for each type. So, EEG detects waves.
It's CT (computerized tomography) producing radiation similar to X-ray: A CT scan is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses a combination of x-rays and computer technology to produce cross-sectional images (often called "slices"), both horizontally and vertically, of the body. A CT scan shows detailed images of any part of the body, including the bones, muscles, fat, and organs. CT scans are more detailed than general x-rays. CT scans also minimize exposure to radiation. CT scans are sometimes done to assess bleeding inside a baby's head. A CT scan is done in a special room and the baby will need a sedative medication so that he

So,it was Sayed's answer the one I needed :) But I just needed to explain why :) Thank you all :)
Non-ProZ.com Jul 26, 2005:
neuneutek, I don't HAVE the term, this is MY translation. Here is the original text: ɡ ȡ X
Now, I translated as encephalography, but I need a different term for . Would you suggest EEG or CT?
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
You don't mean cerebral angiography, do you? This is also very helpful when it comes to HT. :)
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
EEG is called encephalgoraphy although it's not an imaging study because it represents brain tissues functionally... it shows the electrical activity of various parts of the brain so we get a digram rather than an image. :) I hope this helps. :)
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
EEG is actually very different. It's measuring (not imaging) of the brain Tissue electrical activity. This is used to evaluate cases of epilepsy. :) As I said you already have the term: ENCEPHALOGRAPHY (the process) and encephalogram (the diagram u get)..
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
:) I see you already have the Term: it's encephalography which is the radiological presentation of the brain!! This is similar to CT but not CT... It is an imaging study of brain tissue to show the effect of HT on brain vessels and tissues. :)
Non-ProZ.com Jul 26, 2005:
motnh**=month ... sorry :)
Non-ProZ.com Jul 26, 2005:
Ok guys, more information: The patients are those suffering from excessive rising of arterial pressure. The part of the research srudying the effect of this rising over memory will be using . The process is described as (my translation): This examination is an encephalography technique which is a normal process actually represented in a normal examination using a radiation that is similar to X-ray in low percentage.
Now: a motnh ago, I worked on EEG manual and somewhat it sounds the same. But CT is another possibility you brought up! Any suggestions?
neuneutek Jul 26, 2005:
hi.Goodday... EEG is very different from CT brain scan. I know what both are but I am not sure which this Arabic term denotes.... EEG is mainly used to detect mental electrical activity very useful in epilepsy while CT scan is used mainly for Tumours.
