Infatti in prima battuta il cliente non aveva obiettato di fronte alla mia traduzione con guardaroba... cmq, visto che il confronto tra noialtri si è fatto così partecipato, mi sembra giusto farvi sapere il suo commento:
"In English the connotation of “rotation” is that no single shoe has a permanent spot in a fashion-conscious person’s wardrobe, and that any items can be worn or put back into storage depending on the changing preferences of the owner. If rotazione can be understood the same way, then it would be great to use there. If not, then guardaroba is fine".
Oltre a questo significato, c'è anche l'idea di un cambio nell'allenamento, come descritto nel video postato da Emmanuella.

Il termine si usa molto nel contesto di abbigliamento, scarpe e accessori. Il senso, come dicevate, è quello di avere tanti capi, scarpe ecc. tra cui spaziare e cambiare, ma traduzioni letterali come "rotazione" mi sono state in passato corrette dal cliente con soluzioni più naturali come guardaroba o collezione.

Concordo pienamente, mentre un guardaroba è statico. Possedere non significa 'ruotare ,cambiare'.

Da runner non posso che confermare che si parla sovente di rotazione / alternanza fra diversi modelli (es. una scarpa per i lunghi, una per le sessioni veloci, ecc.) quindi immagino che il concetto si possa estendere anche a chi vuole fare una "rotazione" delle scarpe in base all'occasione, all'abbigliamento indossato, e via dicendo :)

@Adami: in ogni caso il tuo ragionamento mi ha aiutato a capire perché parlano di "rotation": probabilmente si riferiscono al fatto che il cliente tipo di questo genere di sneaker - molto costose - non si accontenta di averne un unico paio, vuoi per semplice gusto per la moda, oppure perché ne fa un uso agonistico... e dunque alterna vari modelli, a seconda del tipo di training che deve affrontare.

p.s. di "rotazione" si parla a proposito delle scarpe da running, nel senso che le cambi da un allenamento all'altro (o anche durante la stessa sessione di training), però il "market" mi ha portato su un'altra strada...
