"calculation" in "maille de calcul" is pretty much redundant as the context makes it clear that this is fluid dynamics problem. Mesh generation is hugely important in finite element models, and applies to almost any engineering problem you can think of. Where things change very rapidly, such as near the tip of an electrically charged spike, you will need a very fine mesh; far away, the mesh will be much coarser to reduce computation time. Google "mesh generation" or "meshing schemes" for more info.

grid or mesh I have the impression a "grid" is more "static" (eg nodes are GPS coordinates), whereas a mesh changes shape (eg. surface deformation due to external forces). "taille des mailles de calcul" is about the "holes" in the mesh and could perhaps be rendered as "tighter or looser calculation mesh", "calculation mesh tightness" or something like that.

calculation grid don't know why, but this came to me in a flash while otherwise engaged, but there seems to be something in it. At least, it's used in connection with flood modelling, lighting calculations, flows, luminance,...

I don't know either, but I don't think it's important. I'm guessing it means the area in which the measurements are carried out, and how many measurements are taken within that area.

@ Allegro just a guess, and not an educated one (sorry, no time!) but have you considered calculation mesh or even calculation panel, where this might be part of a mesh?

This is from a book on fluid dynamics:

agree Philippe Etienne : this mesh is a "wireframe" modelling a "system", each of the resulting areas and boundaries is governed by equations, solved numerically (by computers) to convey the system's state at a given time (or with given parameters)

neutral philgoddard : A grid is more or less the same as a mesh, except it may have bigger holes. And there is a separate French word for it, "grille".

Ces mailles sont les surfaces élémentaires du modèle en "fil de fer" d'un système, avec des conditions sur les nœuds et les côtés.
Généralement, plus la maille est grande, moins le modèle est représentatif de la réalité, en tous cas pour un système complexe.
