Spanish term

zamparse en ella.

Spanish to English Art/Literary History Mitos del origen de los Incas
Así también la permanencia de dos versiones: la primera; que los incas eran originarios de tal cueva y la otra, de que se “zamparon” en ella...
Quisiera confirmar si "zamparse en" quiere decir "meterse en".

Gracias!

settled there

In other words, rather than being autochthonous, they simply turned up there, took over the place and settled in....
Example sentence:

... these northern immigrants almost totally took over from the original inhabitants ...

The Vikings tried to settle in North America well before the Spanish, French, or English.

agree Robert Forstag : I think "taken over" would better reflect "zamparse" here.

Spanish term (edited): zamparse en ella

went there / arrived there / travelled there

I don't think it hugely matters what verb you use here as long as it contrasts with "originating there":

"first, that the Incas originated there, and second, that they travelled there"

From the RAE:
7. prnl. Meterse de golpe en una parte.
8. prnl. Presentarse en un sitio.
9. prnl. Dirigirse a un lugar.
