I wanted to submit a quote but I saw 1 dollar is needed to submit a quote! So, is proz not free? Does it mean I can only contact the buyer who accept mail?

The relevant FAQ is here: http://www.proz.com/faq/3145#3145 The outsourcer specifies the method of contact; if it is by e-mail there is no fee.

The link says I can withdraw the money full. I sit true? If I deposit 20 dollars does it mean I can quote 20 projects? Is it monthly or total 20 projects? Please answer I am totally confused.
Russell Jones United Kingdom Local time: 06:55 Italian to English The FAQs are perfectly clear! | Feb 14, 2012 |
If it says you can withdraw the money, why would that not be true? At $1 per job bid, $20 allows you to bid for 20 jobs (if my maths are correct). No time limit is mentioned, so there isn't one!

Can I suggest you send a support ticket to ProZ.com staff? You can do that from the Support Centre under the "about" tab. That way, you'll know exactly where you stand. Sheila

To be able to pay this amount when quoting, you are given the chance to deposit money into your wallet in advance. As Russell says, you can deposit money into your wallet here: https://www.proz.com/?sp=wallet_deposit There is no job or time limit for your wallet deposit and you can use part of the money deposited for quoting on a few jobs and the rest for the partial payment of a site product (membership for instance). Hope this explains. Please let me know if you have any further doubts. Kind regards, Lucia ▲ Collapse
I don't find it so fair | Mar 26, 2015 |
I thnik that no one should pay for trying to get a job , even if it is 1 USD. (actually, 20 USD!) What if I am new to this world and still haven't got a job as a freelancer, I would have to pay without being assured that the job will be mine! That's just crazy

I just wanted to say that I found plenty of work here before becoming a paid member. Simply being a paid member doesn't automatically mean that you win every bid, either. If you don't want to spend any money, only go for the direct contact jobs. You could also try one of the many other marketing techniques available, answering Koduz questions and rank higher in the directories, starting a website, or try social media - I've had a lot of success with Facebook lately. Serena Basili wrote: But if they can afford to pay the full membership it means they have a stable income and are working, right? Translation is a business like any other, to reap benefits one must invest. Just like it is necessary to have appropriate hardware and software it is also necessary to spend time and money on promotion and networking. The fact that someone makes such investments says nothing about income, and even less about income from translation. Stanislaw
