Hello there.
I am a proz user and skype user, but it seems that skype seems to show me offline even when i am online.
any suggestions?
I am a linux user.

I too have this problem (Windows) but I tested it by clicking on it, and receive a Skype pop-up message that I could not have a conversation with myself. My browser tells me I have a "Skype Plug-In failure". I have not found a solution to this yet.

Under Contact on my profile, the Skype option shows my username and a little gray box with a that says "I'm offline" (although I am indeed online and Skype is open). When I click the "x" to close the gray area, which I think should change the "I'm offline" to "I'm online", the only thing that happens is my Skype box comes to the fore of my screen...I'm on a Mac by the way. I checked your profile, Allison, and you appear to me to be offline regarding SKYPE.

The same thing is happening to me, I am "offline" even when I am online:-( Seems that some "connection" between Skype and Proz is not functioning.
By the way, does anyone know how to add a Skype button to our profiles? I am talking about this: http://www.skype.com/intl/en/tell-a-friend/get-a-skype-button/

It started working regularly today somehow. Maybe the support has already done something about it. I hope it will last:-)

Sorry for the delay in my reply.
To show your Skype status publicly --after adding your Skype username to your ProZ.com profile-- go to Skype > Tools > Options > Privacy in your Skype, and select the option "Allow my status to be shown on the web".
Give this a try and let me know how it goes.

you have to go to Preferences under Skype and then Privacy and allow your status to be shown on the web. Then it works.

(I suppose your privacy settings should be set to allow calls and/or chats from anyone (not just contacts) if you're hoping potential new clients will contact you via Skype.)
