English term

D10 NS

Non-PRO English to Spanish Medical Medical (general)
In Isovaleric Acidemia (IVA) Emergency Letter - instructions to doctors who give emergency treatment to IVA patient

"Start infusion of D10 NS at 1.5 maintenance rate to provide high-caloric intake"

I know nothing of medicine and I still don't know what D10 means but from my research I'm thinking: "Inicie la infusión de D10 en solución salina normal a una tasa de mantenimiento de 1.5 para proporcionar una alta ingesta calórica".

All help is highly appreciated.

D10 solución salina normal

EMS systems in the US, UK, and Singapore use D10 to treat hypoglycemia. D10 and D50 administered in 5g aliquots have been compared in a randomized control trial in the prehospital setting. Patients treated with D10 were found to have less total glucose administered and less post-treatment hyperglycemia.
