Discussion

Joanna Thallon (asker) Sep 17, 2017:
Definitely as I posted it. That's why I've found this one so difficult to be sure of but on researching functional renal failure I think that is definitely it. Many thanks!
Joseph Tein Sep 17, 2017:
¿funcional? Are you sure it's "funcional" and not "función?

functional renal failure

I've not come across this before but -- if the source really says "funcional -- then we need to use "functional" in the translation.

Acute organic renal failure is preceded by a reversible functional failure in most patients. Prompt mannitol therapy reversed functional and prevented total organic failure in 16 of 24 patients treated.

Early studies of the hepatorenal syndrome in cirrhosis characterized two types of renal failure, namely functional renal failure and acute tubular necrosis (7).
Example sentence:

Our results indicate that prevention or interruption of oliguria by mannitol infusion does reflect prevention or interruption of acute functional renal failure during aneurysmectomy from the abdominal aorta.
