: yes..except maybe here splotches//...I know naval in English has the meaning of re-inforced etc. but the Portuguese explanation said it was not re-inforced. the plywood is only 3cm etc. so I didn't understand your reaction..

Comment: "Thanks all. Once again, comments were most helpful, especially aportas and rhandler... since roughcast seems to be a type of stucco, I think stuccoed is a "one size fits all solution"..."

: "chapiscado" modifies wall; not the way it was painted.

: very hard to 'chapiscar' a wall with old paint - old paint wouldn't splash because it would be dry

wall: old paint peeling off or old paint spotches
If this is the current condition of the wall, it means: it has splotches of old paint on it....the paint is crumbling off ....I am sure that if that is meaning...ie current condition and needs fixing, this is the meaning

roughcast
it means the wall has received a “chapisco” finish, which basically means applying, by sloshing on with a trowel, a sand and cement rough finish. I am not sure how you would best put this in English, but a proz glossary has it as “roughcast”.

: It's in our Glossary, look: http://www.proz.com/kudoz/978090?keyword=chapisco. Roughcast wall with old paint.
