मित्रो,

मैंने Steps, Stairs और Ladders के लिए आम व्यक्तियों द्वारा हिंदी में "सीढ़ियाँ" का प्रयोग करते हुए देखा है। लेकिन स्पष्ट है कि ये तीनों अलग-अलग चीज़ें हैं और इसीलिए इनके लिए अंग्रेज़ी में अलग शब्द निर्धारित किए गए हैं।

आपके विचार में इनके लिए उपयुक्त हिंदी पर्याय क्या होने चाहिए?

हिंदी के शब्दकोशों में सीढ़ी, ज़ीना और नसेनी समानार्थी दिए गए हैं किंतु मैंने ladder के लिए नसेनी या सीढ़ी, stairs के लिए ज़ीना या सीढ़ियाँ और steps के लिए केवल सीढ़ियाँ ही सुना है। इस (निजी) आधार पर

Ladder = नसेनी, सीढ़ी

Stairs = ज़ीना, सीढ़ियाँ

Steps = सीढ़ियाँ
